Angel of the North

I come from the North East but haven’t yet had the opportunity to visit the Angel of the North.  I think I should make a concerted effort to do so.

 Angel of the North

Since spreading its wings in 1998  The Angel of the North has become one of the most talked about pieces of public art ever produced.

With a 54m wingspan, this Angel is made of 200 tonnes of steel.  It dominates the skyline in Gateshead as it rises 20 meters from the ground, dwarfing all who come along to see it.

The Angel of the North is a major tourist attraction.  Over 150 thousand visitors a year come to see this design by Antony Gormley.

In my opinion it is so ugly but so awesome at the same time.  What do you think?
